Hey everyone! Here’s a little update on some happenings.

Firstly, the Contest judging obviously didn’t get done by the end of August. Sorry about that! We’re shooting to have them all graded by the 10th now. (Some of you guys wrote really long entries man)

We’ve noticed that a lot of people have been submitting their stories and stuff more than once because they don’t see it appear in the group right away. I’d like to remind you guys that stories won’t be auto approved anymore, as we’re using a voting system to see that stuff is related before we let it in, so your stuff isn’t going to show up right away. If you feel like your submission has been missed somehow, just note the group. Submitting stuff more than once confuses us.

Lastly, we’ve got a little proposition for you guys.

A while ago, in that “improvement” journal, we had asked you guys how you felt about memes in the group. The General consensus seemed to be that people didn’t want them removed altogether, but didn’t feel that the image-caption ones added much to the group.

In response to that, we’d like to propose that we stop allowing “Low quality” memes in the group. For clarification, “low-quality” would include captioned pictures (advice animals) such as this, and “rescripted” Memes, such as this.

As for what would still be allowed, Traditional dA “memes” like this are good, and Memes that require more work to make a variant of, such as this would also be allowed. The key word here is effort. If it’s clear that a meme didn’t take all of five seconds to slap together, we’d let it through. (For some older examples, this probably would be allowed, as the background image was an original creation. This would not be allowed, as it only involved filling in a couple lines in a template.)

What do you think? Is this a policy that you would like us to implement?

EDIT: Reminder from the group founder: if you ever have a question regarding your submission; feel free to send a note to us!
